Films in Education
Our programs in education through use of art and culture address the most pressing issues of Kosovar society.
Through our inclusive program for all communities in Kosovo, with the support of National Endowment for Democracy we provide tools to teachers and youth to better understand the role of a society and the responsibilities of the governments in how to reduce inequalities, respect human rights, tackle climate change on local level and promote equal rights and opportunities of women and men.
The project focusses on expanding the teacher’s network through Multimedia Education. Through this facilitated process, teachers continuously develop film guides aligned with Kosovo Curriculum Framework, be used as online and offline Teacher's Digital Library and are available through website.
The content management of the platform provides access to films, film clips, film guides as well as activity sheets to be used by teachers in respective schools. The download of the educational material is available to all teachers of Public High Schools throughout the country.
Rise of hate speech is the kind of discrimination that is so strongly present across the whole Western Balkans, and has now become a part of public life. Therefore, the thematic experts and facilitators continuously assist the teachers to develop the film guides and ensure alignment with the Kosovo Curriculum Framework, with particular emphasis on lessons that include misinterpreted data and encourage hate speech.
Since 2018, we’ve organized workshops regularly for high school teachers on the use of audio-visual tools in teaching, and so far we have managed to host about 150 participants from different cities of Kosovo such as: Prizren, Gjakova, Peja, Deçan, Suhareka, Dragash, Malisheva, Rahovec, Prishtina, Podujeva, Vushtrri, Shtime, Lipjan, Viti, Ferizaj, Fushë Kosova, Obiliq, Gjilan, Kaçanik and Hani i Elezit.
Participants of the workshops were teachers that lecture subjects such as: Albanian Language, English Language, German Language, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Civic Education, History, Geography, Economics, Health Education, Musical Art, Figurative Art, Mathematics, Physics and ICT. All these teachers have enriched the Teacher's Digital Library by contributing to the compilation of 115 film guides.
This program of workshops continues to be organized by DokuFest in cooperation with experts and education tutors, expanding not only in the territory of Kosovo but also in the territory of Montenegro and Albania. The exchange of knowledge and the sharing of experiences for the use of film in the classroom by Kosovo teachers marked a successful collaboration with our partners
"UnderHill Fest" from Montenegro and
"Korça Short Film Festival — KO:SH" from Albania.
