FIRST INTERCULTURAL CAMP
From January 29 to February 4, 2024, DokuFest organized the first intercultural camp of the project, bringing together 18 young people from different communities in Kosovo with the aim of breaking down social barriers that cause division through the power of art and storytelling.
During the camp, participants explored how art can be used to bring untold stories to light and address sensitive social issues. From Prizren to Prishtina, they were introduced to Kosovo’s cultural heritage and contemporary forms of expression, including animation and documentary. Meetings with organizations focused on alternative journalism and cultural activism helped them to better understand the role of storytelling in empowering communities and promoting social change.
At the end of the camp, participants shared their experiences through individual interviews, reflecting on the challenges and common realities that bind them, regardless of their backgrounds. These interviews were displayed in the form of an exhibition during the second cultural camp at Kino Armata in Pristina.
SECOND INTERCULTURAL CAMP
From May 27th to June 2nd, the second edition of the camp brought together young people from different communities in Kosovo for a week of cultural exchange. Participants had the opportunity to get to know each other and learn about the filming and editing process through a lecture on the filmmaking process. In the following days, they made video portraits, conducted visits, and worked on portraying each other through filming, ending with presentations and discussions of their materials.
During the camp, Flutura Balaj shared her experience as a filmmaker and spoke about the power of art in addressing social challenges. Participants also visited the Kosovo 2.0 editorial office and the Humanitarian Rights Documentation Center, while the launch of the camp exhibition was held at Kino Armata.
The last days included various activities and film screenings. The camp concluded with discussions about the participants' impressions and suggestions, while the produced materials will be presented at the second DokuFest exhibition, highlighting their perspectives and experiences.
THIRD INTERCULTURAL CAMP
From 4 to 11 November 2024, the third camp was held with 8 young people from different communities in Kosovo.
During the camp, participants participated in discussions and practical workshops on filmmaking, as well as explored cultural heritage and contemporary forms of artistic expression. To enrich their experience, we conducted visits and meetings with organizations that focus on alternative journalism, human rights, and cultural activism.
At the end of the camp, participants shared their stories and experiences through individual interviews, reflecting on the diversity, challenges, and common realities that affect them, regardless of their background or identity. These interviews will be displayed in the form of an exhibition on 18 April 2025.
FOURTH INTERCULTURAL CAMP
From February 18 to 23, 2025, we organized the last camp of the project, bringing together 14 young people from different communities in Kosovo.
During the camp, participants engaged in lectures on film, filming techniques, and editing, combining theoretical learning with practical exercises. Through discussions and activities, they explored the power of storytelling to reflect on social change and build dialogue among themselves.
They spent the week between filming, visiting, and working in groups, creating video portraits that reflected their perspectives on each other and the lessons learned during the camp. The camp concluded with an interview in the format of a podcast and reflections on the shared experience. The materials produced will be presented at the final exhibition of the project in April.
