Support to New Wave of Kosovo Filmmakers
As a general support to provide opportunities and strengthen the new wave of Kosovar filmmakers, DokuFest will develop a grant scheme over three years to support minimum five film projects for 10 young and aspiring film professionals who are focused on stories from Kosova. (5 filmmakers + 5 producers). The film project detailing the genre, themes, plot, structure, setting and characters for the original short film (fiction or documentary) with a maximum length of up to 30 minutes will be granted with funding to complete the production within 12 months.
A priority will be given to the projects with a potential for films that bring local stories and that have potential capacity for international distribution. In addition, all projects that apply will be encouraged and supported to find additional funding from Public and Private institutions (and in exceptional cases international film funding). In addition to the funding, if needed, the selected projects will be provided with equipment from DokuFest's Film Production Centre, hence the budgeting for the equipment such as, cameras, sound recording devices, and basic lighting, might be covered through the project.
DokuFest will also provide mentoring and counseling throughout the production and postproduction process, and editing space and equipment if required. After the DCP versioning of the completed project DokuFest will make final testing in the cinema prior to the premiere of the film. DokuFest will premiere these films in Kosovo at DokuFest, and will take over the international Festival Distribution, whereas the the VoD and other international distribution modalities will be completed through a specialized International Distribution Agency, which will be identified during the first year (preferably a Swedish distribution company that is specialized in distribution of short films). In the first year we will support a minimum one film project, while in the second and third year minimum two film projects per year.
