DOKUFEST DHE GJIMNAZI “GJON BUZUKU” PËR DITËN E TOKËS

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION BY DOKUFEST AND GJON BUZUKU GYMNASIUM

To mark the Earth Day on April 22, DokuFest in collaboration with students from Gjon Buzuku Gymnasium contributed to this day by planting 14 trees in several locations in Prizren.

DokuFest marked the Earth Day with a string of activities. Together with students from Gjon Buzuku Gymnasium a number of trees were planted in several locations around Prizren.

On the same day a DokuFest produced short documentary film NOSOTROS was livestreamed on the festival’s website, while in the evening a highly popular documentary film I AM GRETA, on the life and efforts of the young activist for environmental protection Greta Thunberg and her commitment and persistence to open the eyes of world leaders to the truth of climate change, was screened in front of the audiences at DokuKino cinema in Prizren.

Following the screening, a panel discussion was held with environmental activists Dr. Kujtim Shala and Puhiza Shemsedini that was moderated by Adelina Hasani. 

These activities are part of the “Promoting a Democratic Society through Culture and Art” project supported by the Swedish Embassy in Kosovo and “The Digital Film Factory” project supported by the economic recovery package from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Kosovo.

To enrich this day, on the website of DokuFest was livestreamed four times the short documentary film NOSOTROS which also talks about the pollution of the environment by human factor.

Also at DokuKino from 20:30 was shown the other documentary film I AM GRETA, a documentary on the life and efforts of the youngest activist for environmental protection Greta Thunberg and her commitment and persistence to open the eyes of world leaders to the truth of climate change.

After the film, discussion was held on DokuKino, where the panel was moderated by Adelina Hasani with panelists Dr. Kujtim Shala, activist in SH. B. Sharri and Puhiza Shemsedini environmental activist, They talked about topic and the importance of the activism. Present spectators for this show were also students of the primary school Mati Logoreci, high school students from Gjon Buzuku and other film lovers.

This project is an integral part of the program “Promoting a Democratic Society through Culture and Art” supported by the Swedish Embassy in Kosovo.

The Digital Film Factory started in February and will go on until the end of June 2022 with a hybrid film program, in DokuKino cinema as well as exclusive online screenings, supported by the economic recovery package from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the Repulic of Kosovo.

The film rights were secured with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Swedish Embassy, ​​the National Endowment for Democracy and through cooperation with the Danish organization “Why Foundation”.
