DIGITAL FILM INNOVATION AND CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION

DIGITAL FILM INNOVATION AND CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION

DokuFest, Kosovo’s leading platform for documentary and short films, is proud to announce the launch of its latest initiative, Digital Film Innovation and Cultural Transformation (D:Fict) Project. This project implemented in cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is set to empower the next generation of digital storytellers and filmmakers.  The Innovation and Training Park (ITP) Prizren is a hub for collaboration between local and international companies, vocational training programs, academic institutions, government agencies, NGOs, as well as a space for cultural and artistic activities

D:Fict emerges at a time when digital literacy and creative skills are more crucial than ever. Recognizing this need, DokuFest has created a comprehensive one-year program, with the potential to expand over five years, aimed at nurturing young talents in digital and film production. Set to unfold through a series of workshops and hands-on project creation opportunities, the initiative will nurture a new wave of filmmakers in Kosovo, enabling youth aged 12 to 18 to engage with both basic and advanced digital content creation and filmmaking techniques.

The program is built on the two DokuFest programs: the Digital Skill Factory and the Digital Film Factory. These training platforms will offer participants a broad spectrum of learning experiences, from audiovisual literacy to cutting-edge digital film production. What sets apart is not only its focus on skill development but also its ambition to inspire young people to use cinema as a medium for social change.

The project aligns with the strategic goals of Kosovo’s Digital Agenda 2030, addressing gaps in digital literacy, cybersecurity awareness, and the need for a digitally skilled workforce. By focusing on the cultural and creative sectors, the program will also contribute to the broader digital transformation of Kosovo.

In the first year alone, the project aims to equip at least 200 young people with essential digital and filmmaking skills, producing digital content and short films that reflect the unique voices and perspectives of Kosovo’s youth. Beyond individual skill-building, the project seeks to solidify ITP standing as a regional hub for Creative and Cultural Industries.

Key to the project’s success is a network of collaborations with local and international organizations, ensuring that the participants receive the best guidance from industry professionals and have access to a wealth of resources and expertise.

Through this initiative, DokuFest continues its mission to foster social development through film, and D:Fict stands as a example of innovation in the realm of digital education. As we move towards a digitally empowered future, D:Fict is set to play a crucial role in equipping Kosovo’s youth with the skills and confidence to lead the charge in creative industries.

"The use of audiovisual tools in teaching has helped me, as a teacher, not only to achieve the results and objectives planned during a lesson but also to be one step closer to reaching the competencies defined by the Kosovo Curricular Framework."
