BRIGHTEN THE CLASSROOM WITH POWERFUL IMAGES
Due to a winter recess, in the month of January our “Film and Factual Media” team facilitated only five screenings during the month of January. Interconnecting several initiatives and teachers that joined our program recently DokuFest’s project financed by the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and managed by Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF) tackled the topics of Radicalization, Gender equality, Climate and Media Literacy.
Through the screenings of the films produced by DokuFest the discussion touched upon unconventional perspectives through critical discussions of historical events; confrontation with responsibility; addressing issues such as prejudice, ethnic intolerance, and exploitation as important activities to stimulate dialogue and active citizenship.
Aligned with the syllabus and national curricular framework this approach is also supporting teachers in achievement of a wide range of effective learning outcome in their use of film, as well as development of the film guides that can be later made available to all teachers nationwide through
Teacher’s Digital Library.
One of the great supports to efficiency of this project was made by invaluable contribution of US Peace Corps Volunteers who have been regularly organizing screenings for their students and communities. The collaboration will intensify in the upcoming months with additional curated screenings and post screening discussions in the classroom.
235 students in total attended the screenings and post screening discussions.
