DokuFest, in partnership with UNICEF, successfully completed the first training under the YESS project – Human Interest Storytelling. About 170 students from 30 different schools took part. The training was for students from grades 6 to 12 and focused on teaching the basics of visual storytelling and filmmaking.
The training included interactive sessions and practical exercises. It started with an introduction to Human Interest Stories, helping students understand why these types of stories are important.
After that, the students learned about the basics of filmmaking and documentary production. This included shooting techniques and how to create a visual story. Using what they learned, they then worked in groups to develop their own ideas.
The training ended with a reflection session where students shared their experiences and talked about their next creative steps.
This marks just the beginning of an inspiring journey for students who want to use film to tell stories with social impact.
