FILM SCREENINGS IN SCHOOLS

The DokuLab department during November 2019, organized 14 screenings in 12 different High Schools all over Kosovo to to over 450 students. In these 12 Schools we tackled the topics of Human Rights, Climate Change, Gender Issues, Drug Prevention, Radicalization and Media Literacy.

We discussed Human Rights, Climate Change, Gender Issues, Drug Prevention, Radicalization and organized sessions on Media and Information Literacy. We utilized films produced through DokuFest projects “Film and Factual Media” financed through Kosovo Civil Society Foundation – Luxembourg Scheme and through “Schools and Documentaries” financed by National Endowment for Democracy. DokuFest also utilized films secured through collaboration with “WHY FOUNDATION” in Denmark. Apart from the screenings DokuFest showcased its Solar Powered Traveling Cinema and spoke about the power of renewables. When we use solar power, we don’t use any of the Earth’s resources like coal or oil. This makes solar power a renewable energy source. Solar power is our energy future, so it only makes sense to teach the future generation about the benefits of the sustainable energy source. "Educational films serve as key tools to inspire change and promote intercultural dialogue in schools. They offer a unique opportunity for students to develop critical thinking skills, increase awareness about social and cultural issues, and encourage a more open and inclusive approach to learning. Through their powerful themes and impactful narratives, these educational films are rich resources that support innovative teaching and contribute to building a more informed, conscious, and democratic society."
